Géoportail est un accès facile par Internet aux informations géographiques à leur visualisation cartographique.
Celles-ci sont fournies par les partenaires du Géoportail dont principalement l’IGN pour les photos aériennes et les cartes mais aussi, pour certaine région, le ministère du budget pour les plans cadastraux.
Il permet aujourd'hui de naviguer en 2D (2 dimensions) sur photos aériennes, cartes du lieu de son choix, sur tout le territoire national, DOM/TOM et collectivités territoriales comprises.
Désormais, nous pouvons naviguer en 3D (3 dimensions) et découvrir tout le territoire en relief.
Les déplacements sont possibles dans les trois dimensions : monter et descendre, tourner autour d'un point.
Il suffit de télécharger une application gratuite : TerraExplorer. Une fois installé et depuis le site de Géoportail , il faut tout simplement cliquer sur l’onglet 3D (en Béta).
Je l’ai testé. Ça marche bien. Le relief est plus « visible » dans les Alpes qu’à Paris. Mais le résultat est là. Après des débuts un peu difficiles et une précision que je ne trouve pas toujours génial, Géoportail s’améliore. J’ai trouvé les images plus nettes avec la 3D. Seul regret la 3D ne fonctionne pas encore sous Mac.

These information are provided by different partners
Of Geoportail, principally I.G.N. (National Geographic Institute) for the aerial photographs and maps but also in some regions, the French Ministry of the Budget for the cadastral maps.
It makes it possible today to view in 2D aerial photographs and maps of any place on the French territory including other French territories.
From now on, we can use Geoportail in 3D and discover the all territory in relief.
We can move on the view in the three dimensions: go up and down and turn around a chosen point.
You’ll need to download a free application; TerraExplorer. Once installed you can find on the Geoportail site the 3D menu (beta version).
I tested it. It works well. The relief is more « visible » in the Alps than in Paris, but the result is great. After some difficulties at the beginning and a precision that I do not find always enough, Geoportail improves.
I found the image better rand clearer with the 3D Version.
Only regret is that the 3D does not work on a Mac yet.
